You consider too fat, your nose is too diminutive, and your hide is too dry: the issues are never-ending. Conceivably it is not your body but your mind-set that is not ideal. Apprehend that human beings are by no means satisfied - automatically, you keep needing more and aiming superior heights. It is not entirely detrimental as long as you do not let it subdue you.

Regardless of the grave suggestion presented above, it is tolerable to correct real time issues - like parched skin or the superfluous 30 pounds that don't feel right on your body. But there is a vigorous way of doing it devoid of letting it harmfully affect your every day life. On the opposing, it should make you seem and suffer better enabling you to experience more convinced and positive. This segment contains information on taking heed of a variety of parts of the body.

Pedicure is the care of foot, legs and toe nails. Its principle is to formulate the skin squashy and silky. To maintain the toe nails spotless, well shaped and gleaming. To keep the feet dirt free, fair and in superior condition. It enhances blood circulation, nourishes the leg hide and foot muscles.

Manicure is the care of hand, nails and arms. The expression "manicure" is derivative from the Latin word 'manus' which spells hands. Its chief purpose is to maintain hands, arms clean and in superior condition. It restrains long nail formation. It discourages the wrinkles on the derma on the hand which is the 1st sign of ageing. It stops nail damage like fragile tips, splits.

Wipe up eyes by means of apple juice as apple juice is affluent in pectin which provides the eyes sparkle. Fundamental eye quandary is dark circles. Care of foot is very necessary. You should pursue the universal tips to sustain your feet tidy and spotless and gratis from issues. The widespread feet issues are calluses, the bad odor from feet cracks and chilblains.

The derma of knees and elbows are by and large devoid of oil glands. That is why it gets dry so fast. Because of this reason elbows and knees get dark. It is a natural mucky from built up dead cells and dust. They provide an ugly light if they are not accurately cared. Lips get dark due to a variety of reasons that's starting from use of some cheap variety of lipstick, sun coverage, and heavy application of lipstick, drinking tea or coffee in excess. The most significant reason of dark lips is smoking. It can also be owing to allergy and aridness. Vitamins, iron and clean air keeps the lips crimson. Carrot and orange juice should be consumed for maintaining red lips.

Good nails are also indispensable in accepted beauty. Dry, fractured, bitten off decreases the exquisiteness of hands and feet. Correct diet rich in calcium, protein and vitamins should be consumed for appropriate care of nails. Devoid of the sleep, one seems older and our skin will appear drier. Cosmetics play major roles as they are more than just color and mascara. Skin products are both mentioned as drugs or cosmetics. A drug can modify the meaning and structures of the skin while a cosmetic just emulates the manifestation. The term cosmeceutical describes products that utilize ingredients that encompass some biological consequence on the skin but are not termed as drugs. Pregnancy Tips

2 cups minus 2 tablespoons

(8 1/2 ounces) cake flour

1 2/3 cups (8 1/2 ounces) bread flour

1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt

2 1/2 sticks (1 1/4 cups) unsalted butter

Taking care of yourself during your pregnancy is of utmost importance. Your gynaecologist will give you general guidelines, but don't expect to be spoonfed. Here's what you need to know and do on your own.

Diet

Read up on what constitutes a good diet or speak with a nutritionist. Your doctor may not tell you to avoid eating outside, but if you have a sensitive stomach, use your own common sense and stay away from uncooked foods, salads, and avoid eating at places where the food is suspect. Don't eat outdoors in the summer when food gets spoiled easily. Be particular about eating a well-balanced meal and don't fill yourself up with empty calories.

Sleep

How should you sleep at night? Sleeping on your back when pregnant may harm your back, as the added weight sits straight on your spinal cord. It's best if you sleep on your side, preferably on your left side. This position also ensures optimal oxygen flow to your baby.

Alcohol

Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol at this time. You may have heard or read at various places that wine is fairly safe during pregnancy. However, while the safety of downing a drink may be questionable, refusing it is unquestionably a safe bet. The choice is up to you. If you are craving for a drink, you may consider giving in and going for a small glass of red wine. But if the craving is not so strong and you can overcome it, consider opting for a juice! A cup of mild coffee a day is fine, but needless to say, a cup of juice is even better. The choice is yours.

Exercise

A short walk everyday will suffice. You don't need to gear up for the marathon, but keeping your leg muscles strong will help in the delivery process. Always check with your doctor before beginning any exercise programme.

Read

Spend some time reading everyday. This will not guarantee that your baby will grow up with a love of literature, but reading is definitely a relaxing activity. In fact, it is a good idea for you to stay away from depressing books, and read something light and interesting. "I read a lot of very funny books and joke books when I was pregnant. With the result that I laughed a lot, and my baby too is constantly smiling and laughing. I don't know if it is the result of all the books I read, but I believe a happy pregnancy leads to a happy baby," says Sunayana. So if you enjoy reading, pick up some lighthearted books at this time. If not, surely a joke a day should be achievable! Pregnancy in general can be a very stressful time, and this is a great way to just let loose and laugh. The effects of heartfelt laughter are bound to impact a foetus positively.

Music

Listen to soothing music, and play the same music consistently at the same time. Continue when the baby is born, and watch your baby calm down as soon as you play the music!

There is no "ideal" blood pressure reading. However, there is a range of "normal" blood pressure readings. Generally, a reading that is less than 120 over 80 indicates that you don't need to worry. If either or both numbers are equal to or greater than 120 over 80 for an extended period of time, you have high blood pressure, or hypertension.

Hypertension is dangerous because it causes the heart to work extra hard. This strain contributes to heart attacks and stroke. When the heart is forced to work extra hard for an extended period of time, it tends to enlarge. A slightly enlarged heart can function well, but a significantly enlarged heart cannot. High blood pressure also causes damage to the arteries, causing arterial disease.

Hypertension can be treated. Mild cases of hypertension can be treated through behavior modification like changing diet and increasing exercise. More severe cases of hypertension require medications like diuretics, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, and calcium channel blockers. Each type of chemical works differently in an attempt to bring blood pressure back into a normal range. For example, diuretics rid the body of excess fluids and salt while beta blockers reduce the heart rate and the heart's output of blood.

Please note that these are general statements about hypertension. For individualized information, it is essential that you consult with a medical professional.

High Blood Pressure Diagnosed

Your doctor will diagnose high blood pressure (HBP) using the results of blood pressure tests. These tests will be done several times to make sure the results are correct. If your numbers are high, your doctor may have you return for more tests to check your blood pressure over time.

If your blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or higher over time, your doctor will likely diagnose you with HBP. If you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, a blood pressure of 130/80 mmHg or higher is considered HBP.

The HBP ranges in children are different. (For more information, see below.)

How Is Blood Pressure Tested?

A blood pressure test is easy and painless. This test is done at a doctor's office or clinic.

To prepare for the test:

  • Don't drink coffee or smoke cigarettes for 30 minutes prior to the test. These actions may cause a short-term rise in your blood pressure.
  • Go to the bathroom before the test. Having a full bladder can change your blood pressure reading.
  • Sit for 5 minutes before the test. Movement can cause short-term rises in blood pressure.

To measure your blood pressure, your doctor or nurse will use some type of a gauge, a stethoscope (or electronic sensor), and a blood pressure cuff.

Most often, you will sit or lie down with the cuff around your arm as your doctor or nurse checks your blood pressure. If he or she doesn't tell you what your blood pressure numbers are, you should ask.

Diagnosing High Blood Pressure in Children and Teens

Doctors measure blood pressure in children and teens the same way they do in adults. Your child should have routine blood pressure checks starting at 3 years of age.

Blood pressure normally rises with age and body size. Newborn babies often have very low blood pressure numbers, while older teens have numbers similar to adults.

The ranges for normal blood pressure and HBP are generally lower for youth than for adults. These ranges are based on the average blood pressure numbers for age, gender, and height.

To find out whether a child has HBP, a doctor will compare the child's blood pressure numbers to average numbers for his or her age, height, and gender.

Eye Care

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, early detection and treatment of many sight-threatening diseases may prevent visual loss.

When it comes to children, the most important preventive steps are routine eye examinations, visual screening tests, and preventing eye trauma.
Newborns are examined in the nursery for eye infections and eye disorders. Children should receive their first comprehensive eye examination by about age three, unless a specific condition or history of family childhood vision problems warrants an earlier examination.
Eye trauma is an important cause of vision loss in children. Eye trauma refers to any injury to the eye. The National Society to Prevent Blindness states that about one-third of preventable eye loss in children under 10 years of age is from trauma to the eye. As a parent, you can help your child avoid eye trauma with the proper use of safety equipment during sports and recreational activities.

Digestive and Liver Disorders

Digestive disorders affecting infants and children range from simple problems that most children experience, such as vomiting or diarrhea, to more serious problems such as the birth defect tracheoesophageal fistula or illnesses such as appendicitis.
Digestive and liver disorders can have significant effects on the health of a child. A healthy digestive system processes the foods and liquids that we eat, replenishing vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats that are vital for the body to function properly.

Occasional vomiting or diarrhea may lead to dehydration. However, long-term problems with the digestive system or liver can deplete these important nutrients, causing malnutrition that affects a child's physical and mental growth and development.

Some digestive disorders, such as vomiting or diarrhea, may be effectively treated by your child's physician. Other times, your child's physician may refer you to a physician who specializes in children's digestive and liver disorders. This specialist is known as a pediatric gastroenterologist.

Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology

Allergy and asthma are among the most common heath problems, with more than 50 million people afflicted with asthma, seasonal hay fever, or other allergy-related conditions each year.
Allergies can affect anyone. Generally, allergies are more common in children, however, a first-time occurrence can happen at any age, or recur after many years of remission.
There is a tendency for allergies to occur in families, although the exact genetic factors that cause it are not yet understood.

Food allergies are seen in 8 percent of children under age six.

According to the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America, if only one parent has allergies, chances are one in three that each child will have an allergy. If both parents have allergies, it is much more likely (seven in 10) that their children will have allergies.

According to the latest available statistics from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, allergic problems in the US are the sixth leading common cause of chronic disease.

About 20.3 million people in the US have been diagnosed with asthma, with at least 6.3 million of them children under the age of 18.

Asthma is the third ranking cause of childhood hospitalizations under the age of 15.

Good News For Cataract Patients

Food safety is crucial to avoiding food poisoning
If you have a cataract, walk into the doctor's clinic, get a surgery and walk out in less than an hour to resume normal work.

Microphakonit, an innovation in cataract surgery by Chennai-based doctor Amar Agarwal, not only takes a few minutes to perform but also promises to also allow patients to resume regular activities almost immediately afterwards.

The new technique was demonstrated at the B.B. Eye Foundation here Sunday.

The surgical procedure, designed to improve treatment of cataract, uses micro incision (700 microns) surgery and is minimally invasive. It allows quicker recovery and better results.

About 300 leading ophthalmologists from across India watched on a giant screen as Agarwal along with P.K. Bakshi, eminent ophthalmologist and founder and director of B.B. Eye Foundation, performed the surgery.

It is now possible for a patient to walk in and get his cataract removed and get back to work or normal life almost immediately, claimed the two doctors.Microphakonit will be 20 to 30 percent costlier and it will take only 15 to 20 minutes to perform.

"This is a major milestone and a feather in India's cap. Agarwal's technique is a trendsetter and marks a new era in cataract surgery," said prominent doctor Bakshi.

There are 10 to 12 million cases of blindness in India every year. Of these, a whopping eight million are due to cataract, said Agarwal adding that his innovation is not patented. He hoped that doctors across the world would use this technique for safety and speedy recovery of patients.

Currently, in the whole of eastern and northeastern India, this surgical technique is available only at the B.B. Eye Foundation, said the doctors.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy today is a rapidly growing system and is being practiced almost all over the world. In India it has become a household name due the safety of its pills and gentleness of its cure. A rough study indicates that about 10% of the Indian population solely depend on Homoeopathy for their Health care needs.

It is more than a century and a half now that Homoeopathy is being practiced in India. It hasblended so well into the roots and traditions of the country that it has been recognised as one of the National Systems of Medicine and plays a an important role in providing health care to a large number of people. Its strength lies in its evident effectiveness as it takes a holistic approach towards the sick individual through promotion of inner balance at mental, emotional, spiritual and physical levels.

The word ‘Homoeopathy’ is derived from two Greek words, Homois meaning similar and pathos meaning suffering. Homoeopathy simply means treating diseases with remedies, prescribed in minute doses, which are capable of producing symptoms similar to the disease when taken by healthy people. It is based on the natural law of healing- "Similia Similibus Curantur" which means "likes are cured by likes". Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) gave it a scientific basis in the early 19th century. It has been serving suffering humanity for over two centuries and has withstood the upheavals of time and has emerged as a time-tested therapy. The scientific principles propounded by Hahnemann are natural and well proven and continue to be followed with success.

ORIGIN

The principle of Homoeopathy has been known since the time of Hippocrates from Greece, the founder of medicine, around 450 BC More than a thousand years later the Swiss alchemist Paracelsus employed the same system of healing based upon the principle that "like cures like". But it was not until the late 18th century that Homoeopathy as it is practiced today was evolved by the great German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. He was appalled by the medical practices of that time and set about to develop a method of healing which would be safe, gentle, and effective. He believed that human beings have a capacity for healing themselves and that the symptoms of disease reflect the individuals struggle to overcome his illness.

Over two hundred years ago, the German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann discovered the principle that what substance could cause in the way of symptoms, it could also cure.Hahnemann was struck by the effect that certain drugs, when taken by him while quite healthy, produced symptoms that the drug was known to cure in sick. For instance, when he took Cinchona Bark, which contains quinine, he became ill with symptoms that exactly mimicked intermittent fever (now called malaria). He wondered if the reason Cinchona worked against intermittent fever was because it caused symptoms indistinguishable from intermittent fever in a healthy human.

Hahnemann continued to experiment, noting that every substance he took, whether a herb, a mineral, an animal product or a chemical compound, produced definite distinct symptoms in him. He further noted that no two substances produced exactly the same set of symptoms. Each provoked its own unique pattern of symptoms. Furthermore the symptoms were not just confined to the physical plane. Every substance tested also affected the mind and the emotions apart from the body.Eventually, Hahnemann began to treat the sick
on the principle ‘let likes be treated by likes’. From the outset he achieved outstanding clinical success

Back Pain

The Basics
Here's one problem you can't turn your back on! But you can get some relief from knowing that very few people turn out to have a major problem or a dangerous medical condition involving the bones or joints of the back. In fact, often the exact cause of a person's back pain can't be pinpointed exactly. Many cases result from everyday activities and clear up by themselves within a relatively short time period. Whether your back pain requires a doctor's care or not, chances are you'll be "back" to normal in (almost) no time.

Description .

Back pain may be blamed on poor muscle tone in the back, muscle tension or spasm, back sprains, ligament or muscle tears, and/or joint problems. If you have a so-called "slipped disc" in your spinal column, you may suffer buttock or leg pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs due to irritation of nerves from the spinal cord. Emotional stress or long periods of inactivity may worsen back pain.

People in poor physical condition (including obesity) or those who do work that includes heavy labor or long periods of sitting or standing have a higher risk of developing low back problems; they also get better more slowly.

Occasionally back pain can be due to other conditions. These include arthritis, ulcers or other intestinal problems, kidney disease, pregnancy or other gynecological conditions, heart disease, and cancer. If back pain seems unrelated to an injury or activity, or is in any other way unusual, a visit to the doctor is recommended.

Symptoms

Back pain is usually confined to the lower back, but it may extend to other areas, particularly the legs. Affected parts of the back may feel tender or sore to the touch, and the pain may increase with movement. Pain can be felt as sharp or knife-like, a burning sensation, or as a dull muscular ache. Symptoms can range from mildly uncomfortable to completely disabling.

Treatment

Most episodes of mild back pain will improve without any medical intervention. Over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen can provide temporary relief. It's a good idea to avoid overly strenuous or repetitive activity, but bed rest should generally be avoided. In fact, numerous clinical trials have confirmed that continued activity and prescribed exercises reduce back discomfort and result in more rapid recovery. In addition, a good exercise program may help prevent recurrence -- common with back pain. Check with your doctor if your symptoms worsen or don't improve rapidly.

Other helpful back-pain treatments include physical therapy, massage, and spinal manipulation. In addition, a panel from the National Institutes of Health has concluded that acupuncture may be useful as one form of treatment in a comprehensive management program for back pain. Surgical treatment of back pain is dictated not by the sufferer's degree of discomfort but by the type of structural problem that is causing the pain. In some cases, surgery can be a highly effective option.

Medicines Help in Many Ways

People take medicines to fight illness, to feel better when they're sick, and to keep from getting sick in the first place. When a doctor is deciding which medicine to give a patient, he or she thinks about what is causing the patient's problem. Someone may need to take more than one type of medicine at the same time — one to fight off an infection and one to help the person feel better, for example.

When it comes to fighting illnesses, there are many types of medicines. Antibiotics (say: an-ty-by-ah-tiks) are one type of medicine that a lot of kids have taken. Antibiotics kill germs called bacteria, and different antibiotics can fight different kinds of bacteria. So if your doctor found out that streptococcal bacteria were causing your sore throat, he or she could prescribe just the right antibiotic.

But while the antibiotic is starting to fight the bacteria, you might still feel achy and hot, so the doctor might tell your parent to also give you a pain reliever. Pain relievers can't make you well, but they do help you feel better while you're getting well.

You have taken other medicines that soothe symptoms if you've ever taken cold medicine to dry up your runny nose or sucked on throat drops for a scratchy throat. Cream that helps a bug bite stop itching is another example. Your cold had to go away on its own, just like the bug bite needed to heal on its own, but in the meantime, these medicines helped you feel less sick or itchy.

Many people also take medicines to control illnesses that don't completely go away, such as diabetes, asthma, or high blood pressure. With help from these medicines, people can enjoy life and avoid some of the worst symptoms associated with their illnesses.

Finally, there are important medicines that keep people from getting sick in the first place. Some of these are called immunizations , and they are usually given as a shot. They prevent people from catching serious illnesses like measles and mumps. There is even an immunization that prevents chickenpox, and many people get a flu shot each winter to avoid the flu. Although shots are never fun, they are a very important part of staying healthy.

A Rainbow of Medicine

One medicine might be a pink liquid, another medicine might come in a special mist, another might be a blue pill, and still another might come out of a yellow tube. But they're all used for the same purpose — to make you feel better when you're sick. Some medicines were discovered from substances found in nature. Others are made by scientists in laboratories. Most medicines today are made in laboratories and many are based on substances found in nature.

After a medicine is created, it is tested over and over in many different ways. This allows scientists to make sure the medicine is safe for people to take and that it can fight or prevent a specific illness. A lot of new medicines actually are new versions of old medicines that have been improved to help people feel better quicker.

Sometimes a part of the body can't make enough of a certain substance, and this can make a person sick. When someone has type 1 diabetes (say: dye-uh-be-tees), the pancreas (a body organ that is part of the digestive system) can't make enough of an important chemical called insulin, which the body needs to stay healthy. If your body makes too much of a certain chemical, that can make you sick, too. Luckily, medicines can replace what's missing (like insulin) or they can block production of a chemical when the body is making too much of it.

Most of the time when kids get sick, the illness comes from germs that get into the body. The body's immune system works to fight off these invaders, but the germs and the body's natural way of germ fighting, like getting a fever, can make a person feel ill. In many cases, the right kind of medicine can help kill the germs and help the person feel better.

Acupuncture For Side Effects Of Cancer Treatment

Acupuncture is a common traditional Chinese medicine that has been adapted by the Western countries.

It involves the inserting of needles into specific points on the human body. It makes you wince a little bit at the thought of needles all over your body.

But these are not normal needles that we use when sewing. They use a specific needle for this, called the filform needles.

Acupuncture has been known to treat persistent hiccups, constipation, Arthritis, headaches, Paresthesias and many more. Recent studies have also indicated that this practice can help in curing the side effects of cancer treatment.

Side effects of cancer treatment can vary with the range or scope of the procedure. Anti-inflammatory drugs and exercise are often prescribed to address pain associated with these after effects but these may administer a lot of pain or may actually take even longer for the patient to recover.

Most women are often treated with anti-estrogen tamoxifen after they have been in surgery for breast cancer. You will find these women often suffer from hot flushes as an after effect. Acupuncture relieves hot flushes in these women faster and more effectively than any other antibiotic can.

Acupuncture has no additional side effects as compared to the steroids or antidepressant drugs that patients are given after treatment to cater for these side effects.

These drugs may further complicate your health through nausea, weight gain and constipation. On the other hand acupuncture actually has benefits in store for you. These include an increased sense of well being and a lot more energy. You will certainly not experience this after taking the drugs.

When treating some head or neck cancers, neck dissection or the removal of the lymph nodes and surrounding tissue is common in treating these cancers.

After this procedure you can imagine the pain you feel when you wake up from surgery. Not only may you feel pain, but the dysfunction of the shoulder. Acupuncture provides the necessary treatment without having to take down glasses of antibiotics everyday.

Acupuncture may be the perfect cure for cancer treatment side effects but it’s not exactly painless. It does involve a little pain when they stick the needles in your body.

This often depends however, with where the needles are going to be inserted. If it’s a less sensitive part of your body then you shouldn’t expect much pain.

Don’t experiment this at home though. It requires great expertise to perform acupuncture.

Diabetes

DiabetesDiabetes is a condition that has been diagnosed in greater than 10 million Americans, and remains undiagnosed in 5 million more.
Diabetes occurs when a person's body is unable to properly process glucose (a sugar that the body uses for energy.) This inability to process glucose causes it to stay in the blood making glucose levels rise. Consequently, the bodies cells are deprived of glucose.
There are two types of diabetes, simply put, type one and type two. Type one diabetes is known as childhood-onset or insulin dependent diabetes, this occurs when the pancreas doesn't create enough insulin for the body. Type two, or adult-onset diabetes occurs when the pancreas makes enough insulin but the body has a hard time using it (insulin resistance.)
Diabetes can lead to other serious health conditions. Poor wound healing, high risk of infection, atherosclerosis, and heart disease are some of the risks associated with diabetes. Early diagnoses and aggressive treatment can help to prevent these risks
